After snapping a two-year, 14-game losing streak last week, the Wauneta-Palisade Broncos remained unbeaten on the season with a 50-8 victory at Minatare Friday.
The Broncos were once again led by Jack McGraw and Connor Kayton.
McGraw scored three first half touchdowns and Kayton added two TDs as the team put 44 points on the board in the first half.
Adding to the scoring explosion was Logan Bischoff, who had an interception return for a touchdown.
Coach Joseph Frecks said good field position throughout the game kept the Broncos’ offensive totals down.
“Minatare was a little better team than we played last week so we didn’t have as many big plays,” said Coach Frecks. “They had five turnovers and we played with a short field more than last week.”
Frecks said the team played all three phases of the game well and they were happy to not have any turnovers in the game.
McGraw and Kayton accounted for 183 yards rushing. Kayton added 43 yards passing.
Kayton returned two punts for a total of 70 yards while McGraw returned one kickoff for 23 yards.
The pair also led the team defensively. McGraw had nine tackles while Kayton had 8.
Wes Anderjaska, Jacob Maris and Donald Hunt picked off passes, in addition to Bischoff. Minatare attempted 28 passes.
McGraw recovered a fumble forced by Gage Crowell.
The Broncos head out for its second of three road games in a row on Friday when it travels to Hyannis.
Hyannis lost to Arthur County 51-20 on Friday.
