Susan Jones, Breeze Production Manager since 1968, accepts a plaque from the Wauneta Chamber signifying the Wauneta Breeze as this year’s Harvest Fest parade Grand Marshal.
All of us at the Wauneta Breeze were humbled to learn the Harvest Fest Committee named the Breeze Harvest Fest parade Grand Marshal this year in honor of its 125th year.
Breeze staff, past and present, feel honored to have reported Wauneta area news for the past 125 years and look forward to reporting the news for the next 125 years.
The Breeze attempted to represent the past, present and future of the Breeze’s coverage of the Wauneta area news by including glimpses from our past, present and future on the float this year.
The float included glimpses into the Breeze’s past with honored guest Lucille McBride, the loved long-time writer of Wauneta’s personal news. McBride still writes Sunrise Heights Happenings for the Breeze.
Former Breeze owner Bill Crapson, now of Kearney, also joined the crew on the float as well as the Breeze’s most recent past editor Tina Kitt, who served as the Managing Editor until early this year.
The current Breeze staff included Sheri Hink, editor; Susan Jones and Bert Steinert, production staff; Diane Stamm, news staff and Lori and Russ Pankonin, owners/co-publishers.
The future of the Breeze was represented by the Pankonin’s grandchildren–Austin, Tayvin and Preslin Lutz.
