Two area high school seniors have been awarded scholarships from Eureka Chapter No. 86, Order of the Eastern Star, located in McCook. Diane Lyons, Worthy Matron and Jane Shield, scholarship chairman, presented the certificate to Kyle Groshong, a McCook High School graduate and son of Tag and Nicole Groshong. Renae Gardner was unable to attend the presentation. She graduated from Wauneta-Palisade High School and is the daughter of Karen and the late Richard Gardner.

Lyons said the Chapter was pleased to award these scholarships, which are based on community involvement and good citizenship as well as scholastic achievement.

Eureka Chapter presents scholarships annually to graduating seniors. Local chapters are assisted by the Grand Chapter of Nebraska, Order of the Eastern Star in providing funds for the scholarships. Approximately 97 chapters across the state award scholarships to high school seniors in Nebraska.
