As the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships were completed May 24-26 Doane’s Blair Dixon wrapped up her track career.
With the championships as her final meet, Blair participated in the 4x400 meter relay for Doane last weekend. Blair and teammates Jessa Sughroue of McCook, Fremont’s Casarah Schutt and Papillion’s Erin Klein finished tenth in preliminaries. Their time of 3:51.12 failed to qualify them for finals. Fresno Pacific was ninth and qualified for finals with a time of 3:50.86.
The Doane women’s team was named the outdoor season NAIA Champions of Character.
Blair has been accepted to the University of Nebraska Medical Center and will pursue a degree in radiography. Despite having a year of eligibility remaining, according to her mom Mindi, Blair chose to apply to the Med. Center with the mindset that if it was meant to be it would happen. Blair will start school in August.
Taylor Dixon is entering his final season of football with Nebraska.
Mindi says Taylor has enjoyed the opportunity to meet new people and travel to new places. She says Taylor has also enjoyed the volunteer work.
While now majoring in fishery and wildlife, Taylor plans to apply to dental school and become an orthodontist.
