Chadron State College conferred degrees to 318 graduates on Saturday, May 5. The class included an institutional record 74 master’s degrees and 244 undergraduate degrees. Commencement speakers included Dr. James Wright, CSC professor of business and Stan Carpenter, J.D., chanellor of the Nebraska State College System.
Graduates and degrees included:
Stacee Wright, daughter of Brian and Heidi Wright of Hamlet, Neb., Bachelor of Arts in business administration, magna cum laude,
Luke Wright, Bachelor of Arts in psychology, son of Brian and Heidi Wright of Hamlet,
James Strand, son of Michael ‘Mick’ and Gina Strand of Wauneta, Bachelor of Arts in business administration,
Judy Durham of Palisade, Neb., Bachelor of Science in Education in elementary education, magna cum laude,
Autumn Alberts, daughter of Byron and Deb Alberts of Palisade, Bachelor of Science in Education in elementary education, cum laude.
More than 1,500 students received degrees Friday, May 4, and Saturday, May 5, during the spring University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) commencement ceremony. The two-day graduation weekend event is a new tradition for the university. Former U.S. senator (and UNO alum) Chuck Hagel gave the graduation address on May 4.
Briana Jean Licht, daughter of Bruce and Lana Licht of Palisade, received a Bachelor of Science degree.
Central Community College-Hastings honored 401 graduating students in May during its 45th annual commencement ceremonies.
Janice Hill, a human services instructor at CCC-Hastings, was the keynote speaker. Campus President Bill Hitesman presented the candidates for graduation to CCC President Dr. Greg Smith who conferred the degrees and diplomas.
Among those receiving an Associate of Arts Degree was Michael Messersmith of Palisade.
