The Wauneta Breeze
July 1 will see the return of Randy Geier to the Wauneta-Palisade school district. Geier roamed the Bronco halls as secondary principal and athletic director while pacing the sideline as head football coach from 2006-2007 to 2008-2009.
He will return to the district as the new Superintendent and elementary principal.
Geier has spent the past three years as kindergarten through 12th grade principal at Elm Creek Public Schools. He said he made the “geographical” move to get closer to his kids, but now looks forward to coming back to southwest Nebraska where he was raised.
The Culbertson native says he’s excited to return and provide leadership for the district. Current Superintendent Dr. Stan Sibley said the School Board made an excellent pick and he has great confidence in Geier’s ability to lead the district.
“Mr. Geier was an outstanding applicant,” said Dr. Sibley.
Geier was one of three candidates interviewed in March. He was hired March 19.
Dr. Sibley said “Mr. Geier did a nice job when he was here. He is well respected by the kids, staff and community.”
Geier has already been back to the area to attend the April 12 School Board Meeting. With several staff changes coming up he and Dr. Sibley will be in close contact to find the best fits for Wauneta-Palisade.
Geier said he’s appreciated the time and effort Dr. Sibley has given him through the years. Geier added that Dr. Sibley has done a tremendous job getting the district into excellent educational shape.
“In my return to the area as district superintendent I’ll work to the best of my ability to create the best educational opportunities for students in the district,” Geier said.
