Wauneta-Palisade girls basketball coach Roger Lauhead has been named head coach of the Nebraska Coaches’ Assocation’s 2012 All-Star Basketball Teams and for Cambridge’s CSO East/West All-Star game.

This will be Lauhead’s fourth time coaching the Cambridge event, his third as girls coach.

Lauhead said he looked at stats and watched video of each player. After consulting with his assistant coach, Hayes Center’s Rachel Peters, teams were picked.

The CSO game will be Friday, May 25. The girls game will be at 5:00 p.m. MT/6:00 CT. Rosters have not been released yet.

Lauhead was also selected to coach the Red Team in the 33rd annual NCA All-Star game.

Coaches are nominated by a sports advisory committee. The coach’s records, career stats and longevity are factors considered when the committee chooses coaches.

Players are nominated by coaches. After nominations are received, each player is evaluated and a selection committee chooses players.

Hitchcock County’s Laramey Lewis will play for the blue team.

The game will be played Monday, July 23, at Lincoln North Star High School. The girls game will begin at 6:00 p.m. CT. The boys game will follow at 8:00 p.m. CT. Both games will be televised by NET.
