Jacob and Amanda (Johnston) Pankonin are among the 14 students at Northwest Kansas Technical College in Goodland, Kan., who were named candidates for the Northwest Tech Student of the Year.
To be nominated to represent their program of study, students must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 and complete their program of study in 2012. Student peers voted on who they felt would best represent the Student of the Year from each program.

Jacob is representing the automotive technology program, while his wife, Amanda, was nominated from the computer graphics technology program.
The overall Student of the Year will be announced May 25 at graduation exercises.
