Imperial Chapter #279 Order of Eastern Star held 2012 installation of officers earlier this year.

Officers for 2012 include Barbara Wood, Worthy Matron; Keith Wood, Worthy Patron; Monna Milner, Associate Matron; Larry Rose, Associate Patron; Carol Thompson, Secretary; Marilyn Hust, Treasurer; Sue Smith, Conductress; Angie Paisley, Associate Conductress; June Steggs, Chaplain; Dona June Ekart, Marshall; Dolores Sexson, Organist; Linda Rose, Adah; Elna Johnson, Ruth; Mary Lou Hegwood, Esther; Jean Adams, Martha; Marcia Elder, Electa; Beryl Knotwell, Warder; and Byron Hust, Sentinel.

Installing officers were Rosalie Curtis, Tom Elder and Marilyn Hust.

It was decided to give a Masonic All-Star Marching Band Camp scholarship. The band of over 260 students from Nebraska will perform during halftime of the Shrine football game on June 2 in Lincoln. Deadline to apply is March 16.

The chapter will also be awarding a $500 scholarship to a graduating high school senior in Chase County. The deadline for this award is April 1.

Karen Phillips of North Platte is District Grand Supervisor, and will hold her school in the area on March 17 starting at 9 a.m. at the Masonic Hall in Benkelman.

The 14th annual couples scramble golf tournament will be held at Enders Lake Golf Course on June 9.

The chapter awarded its first “Imhoff Award” to Muriel “Bea” Reichardt, the long­est member having joined in 1943. Receiving their 50-year awards this year will be Peggy Lippitt, Susie Doetker and Bob Walgren.
