The Palisade school gym was full with parents and players on Saturday for the Bronco Boosters Jr. High Tournament. With four teams in the tournament everyone was set for a day full of basketball.

The first game was set to start at 9 a.m. with Maywood taking on Wauneta-Palisade. Maywood played a hard game but couldn’t quite keep up with Wauneta-Palisade. Wauneta - Palisade came up with the win 30-16 putting WP in the championship game.

Hayes Center played Dundy County/Stratton next. DCS dominated the whole game moving them into the Championship game against Wauneta/ Palisade.

The Consolation game was played first where Hayes Center took on Maywood. Maywood won that game taking third place, leaving Hayes Center in fourth place.

For the final game Wauneta-Palisade came up against Dundy County-Stratton. With a team as talented as DCS it was a hard fight but Wauneta-Palisade boys kept up the pace with DCS, but lost by 14 points. None the less the boys gave it their all and came out with a second place trophy, leaving DCS to take home the first place win.

All the proceeds from the tournament went to the Bronco Boosters who use the money to support our local youth and their extracurricular activities.

Next week there will be a tournament for 5th and 6th grades.
