Incumbent filing deadlines coming up
Earlier this month presidential caucuses were held in Iowa meaning the primary election and Democratic presidential caucus season in Nebraska is not far away.
Nebraska’s statewide Democratic presidential caucus is slated for April 14 and the state’s primary election is coming up May 15.
Deadlines for Nebraska office holders are coming up quickly. Incumbents who are up for re-election in the 2012 election cycle must file their intent for re-election no later than Wednesday, Feb. 15.
Non-incumbents who want to seek office in this year’s elections must file no later than Thursday, March 1.
At the county level, the District 1 Commissioner seat held by Chuck Vette of Wauneta is the only county seat up.
URNRD board members up for election include Michael Strand, Kerry Bernhardt, Thomas Gaschler and Tom Terryberry.
Locally in Wauneta, the Village Board seats of Lloyd Sinner and Lynn Brunkhorst are up for election. Filing deadlines for Village Board hit later this summer.
The seats of Wauneta-Palisade school board incumbents Stuart Bartels, Jon Anderjaska and John Jutten are also up for re-election.
In Chase County, the seats of Chase County Hospital District board members Bill Bauerle and Vicky Heskett come up for the first time.
It’s likely voters will decide whether or not to dissolve the hospital district created in the primary two years ago. County Clerk Debbie Clark, who also serves as election commissioner, said that even if the district is dissolved, the board must still be elected to deal with the dissolution process.
