Breeze office will be closed Monday, Jan. 2
The Wauneta Breeze will join with other businesses and entities observing Jan. 2 as a holiday.
The Breeze office will be closed on Monday, Jan. 2, for New Year’s. Normal office hours will resume on Tuesday, Jan. 3.
The post office, bank and courthouse will also be closed on Monday along with all other governmental offices and many businesses.
New Year’s weekend plans in Wauneta area
Several special offerings are being planned across Chase County to help ring in 2012 in style.
The crew at Enders Lake Golf Course is offering a festive holiday menu Saturday night including prime rib, steak, shrimp, salmon and baby back ribs.
At Tommy’s Sports Club in Wauneta crab legs, prime rib, steaks and shrimp headline the menu with karaoke singing and dancing in the works from 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
Movie fans will have a chance to take in a movie on either New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day at the Chateau Theatre. “Happy Feet Two” in 3D will be shown over the New Year’s weekend, with show time set for 7 p.m. MT Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.
Tommy’s will be open Monday, Jan. 2, offering Husker fans a chance to catch the bowl game on the big screen. Kickoff is slated for 11 a.m. MT.
Christmas vacation at WP continues thru Jan. 3
Christmas vacation at Wauneta-Palisade Schools continues through the weekend past New Year’s Day, with classes resuming for students on Wednesday, Jan. 4.
Faculty and staff return to work on Jan. 3, observing a professional day ahead of the resumption of classes.
Vette attends state workshop for officials
Chase County Commissioner Chuck Vette of Wauneta attended a two-and-a-half day conference conducted in Kearney Dec. 14-16 for Nebraska county officials.
The annual conference, attended by approximately 800 county officials and employees, is part of a continuing education and leadership development series sponsored by the Nebraska Association of County Officials.
The conference updated county officials on recent changes in state laws and provided extensive training on the responsibilities of their respective offices.
Santa photos can be picked up at the Breeze
Photos taken of youngsters with Santa on Santa Saturday at Wauneta’s downtown gazebo are still available, free of charge at the Breeze office this week. Family members can stop in and pick up the complimentary 4-by-6 snapshots at the Breeze front office or they can purchase print sizes of their choosing by going online to the Breeze web site at waunetabreeze.com and clicking on the “photos” tab.
