One little boy was determined to see if Santa was the real deal or not. No one but Santa and his elf know the his name.
The Wauneta Breeze
Saturday’s Old Fashion Christmas proved to be fun for all in Palisade.
Everyone from birth on up enjoyed the many activities scheduled that day.
The day started off with some good old fashioned bingo at the Legion Hall. Following bingo was a movie for the youngsters and any adults who wished to join them. The movie was made complete with popcorn and soda.
Santa’s arrival after the movie was certainly the highlight of the day for young and old alike.
Not only did Santa listen to children’s wishes but even a few adults as well.
Santa and his elf handed out stockings full of goodies to everyone in the building not only the ones who sat on his lap.
Each stocking contained a special ticket that only those present could benefit from.
Each ticket represented a number to be drawn for special gifts given to all the children and community members in attendance at the drawing which was held in the John L. Sullivan Auxiliary hall.
Many local businesses donated the gifts that everyone received. There were enough gifts that everyone who attended got at least one gift, some even received two. After the gifts were handed out the community was invited to the Legion Hall for a soup supper before the lighting of the town Christmas tree.
The finale of the day, of course, was the lighting of the Christmas tree which took place at 5:30 p.m. MT /6:30 p.m. CT.
Do you think Bill Lawless is being told to be extra good this year by Santa’s elf? Maybe.
Enthusiasm is obvious in Patty Post’s face as she jumps up to claim her prize.
