After a hard fight WP’s One-Act with “The Penny Dreadfuls” managed to snag runner up honors second to Wallace, during the district meet held at Wauneta-Palisade High School on Wednesday, Nov. 30.
Eight schools competed in the D2-5 district contest. Teams that participated included Sumner-Eddyville-Miller, Eustis-Farnam, Wauneta-Palisade, Litchfield, Wallace, Callaway, Hayes Center and Pleasanton.
“The Greek Mythology Olympiaganza,” was performed by Wallace, which took first place ahead of Wauneta - Palisade.
Other plays presented were “Hide and Seek,” “Cliques and Cafeterias,” “The Boarding House,” “The Empty Chair,” “Emplyees Must Wash Their Hands....Before Murder,” and “An Honorary Elf.”
Wauneta - Palisade’s cast consisted of Hayden Pollmann, Christi Christner, Tailor Lee, Alondra Almanza, Will Bartlet, Logan Bischoff, John Christner, Abbie Fanning, Weylin Davis, Hannah Nordhausen, Connor Kayton, Jonee Maris, Jacob Maris, Cassidy Rathe, Wes Anderjaska, Landon Jutten, Tayler Nordhausen, Emma Skelton, Sydnee Harchelroad, Leiauna Alberts, Brooklyn Nordhausen, Jasmyn Smith and Raven Walters.
Crew members include stage crew: Chris Carl, Tyler Knots, Sheyla Christner, Cody Hicks; lights: Jack McGraw and James Martin; hair/make-up: Dawn Pinkal, Jasmyn Smith, Melinda Stretch and Raven Walters; sound: Lorenzo Cavanaugh; set design: Janessa Wood; costuming and props: Teresa Hayes and Laurie Maris, and all were directed by Liz Noler.
Two students were awarded outstanding actor awards, John Christner who played the professor and Hayden Pollmann as Mad Aggie.
Outstanding actor/actress awards received by Wauneta-Palisade cast members at recent competitions
John Christner and Hayden Pollmann, pictured above, were both awarded outstanding actor awards at D2-5 district competition.
Pollmann played the part of Mad Aggie, while Christner portrayed the professor.
“Over the season, we won seven oustanding actor/actress awards.” Stated Coach Liz Noler. They include:
