A Community Shout-Out

I would like to personally recognize the courage and determination of the 2011 WP football team.

Those boys may have felt the season was a failure by not winning a game, however I would like to impart some of my observations.

New coach, new offense, new defense, new routine, new players… everything was new. Injuries, sparse numbers, size, and other adversities were all met head-on.

Not once did you turn and run away. No one ever quit, no one ever turned to blame others, it was always encouragement.

The shout “Family” when

huddles broke was very appropriate.

I saw players take on different roles, and positions to try to make it work.

That is true character, and a person’s character will be remembered far longer than any score.

Seems amazing an 0-8 team could score 68 points in a game, or rack up the yards you did but it happened.

I will not singly mention any one accomplishment by a player so not to offend, however I can say from my seat I saw improvement in everybody!

No doubt you men took your lumps, but hey, changing culture

doesn’t happen in one year. I believe our basketball program can attest.

My hats off to you, keep the end in mind, work hard, stick together, and I look forward to seeing you next year.
