By Carolyn Lee The Imperial Republican About 87 people attended the Chase County Historical Society’s year-end banquet Sept. 11 at Country House Cafe in Champion. Officers were elected and the annual report was given. President Byron Hust said 2011 was a year of challenges, beginning with a leaking roof and ending with a water pump burnout. “Without the help of the rest of the board of directors and the help of the committee personnel, we could have had a complete mess. How everyone worked to overcome these setbacks, I thank you.” Hust said visitor numbers were down from nearly 1,000 in 2010 to 750 plus for 2011. He said a new concrete ramp from the east building to the storage container has been added, as has Internet service from Chase 3000. New officers are: Hust, president; Carol Maddux, vice president; Vicky Brown, secretary; Dianne Schilke, treasurer, and directors Jeannine Cox, Merril Humphries and Charlie Colton. |
