Wauneta’s volunteer firefighters and emergency medical technicians offered a silent tribute in honor of those who were killed or injured during the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on New York City and Washington D.C. While the nation reflected on the 10th anniversary of the attacks a flag draped ambulance and flag decked fire engine stood silent sentry on Wauneta’s main street reminding all who passed Sunday of the events of 10 years earlier.
