Participants, athletes and just general spectators should have plenty to look forward to at this year’s Harvest Fest. A plethora of activities and events dot the landscape of this weekend’s celebration. It all starts on Friday at the Pool Olympics, which are set from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Wauneta Pool. Following the Pool Olympics will be “Mini Field Day” for children ages 2-10. It will be held in the park, next to the pool. Also in the park on Friday evening is the Walk to Health, which begins at 5 p.m., with registration held under the picnic pavilion. At 6 p.m., sand volleyball action begins in the park, along with a 3-team men’s softball tournament. The Yucca Run kicks off Saturday’s events, with registration starting at 6:30 a.m. at the Wauneta Senior Center. Price is $17 for those 13 and older, and $8 for those 12 and under. The 5K run/3K walk begins at 7 a.m., with a 1-mile fun run set for 7:45 a.m. Water fights start on the north end of Tecumseh Street at 12:30 p.m., on Saturday, with registration a half hour prior. A horseshoe tournament at Tommy’s Sports Club begins at 3 p.m., with registration at 2:30. |
