Hayes County has partnered with Southwest Nebraska Community Betterment Corporation to offer the Owner Occupied Rehabilitation program.
The program allows income eligible homeowners a financial resource to complete health and safety renovations to their homes. Eligible renovations include items such as windows, doors, siding, roofing, heating systems and insulation.
Household income levels determine if the amount of assistance is a “forgivable loan” with no monthly repayment as long as the property is maintained as their primary residence, or if the loan will be paid back over the next 10 years at 0 percent interest.
In order to reach more households, the County has partnered with other renovation programs across the state including USDA Rural Development, Assistive Technology Partnership, and Mid Nebraska Community Action Agency.
Families can qualify for assistance from all organizations, allowing extensive renovation projects to be accomplished on their homes.
Hayes County has set a goal to assist 10 households with these funds.
Four homeowners have taken advantage of the wonderful program. At this time, funding is available for four more families to receive up to $24,000 in housing assistance.
The County will continue to accept applications until the funding is exhausted. For more information or an application, please contact the SWNCBC office at 308-352-4338.
