Midland University President Dr. Benjamin Sasse conferred degrees upon 250 graduates during the spring 2011 commencement ceremonies in Fremont, Nebr.
Midland welcomed U.S. Deputy Secretary of State James B. Steinberg to the campus as the commencement speaker. Appointed by President Obama and quickly confirmed by the U.S. Senate, Secretary Steinberg is the second highest ranking official in the U.S. State Department and plays a central role in the formulation and execution of U.S. foreign policy.
Marc Klima was among the graduates and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. Klima is the son of Darrel and Sharla Klima of Wauneta.
Concordia University, Seward, Nebr., announced its term honors list for the second semester of the 2010-11 academic year. The top 25 percent of undergraduate students who complete at least 12 credit hours and compile a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale qualify for the honors list.
Jesse Skelton, a senior, was named to the honors list.
Skelton is the son of James and Lana Skelton of Wauneta.
Katelyn McGraw was named with High Honors to the spring semester dean’s list at Northwestern College in St. Paul, Minn. The dean’s list includes full-time students with a grade point average (GPA) during the semester of 3.65 (out of 4.0) or higher.
Highest honors are awarded to students with a GPA of 3.90-4.0, high honors are awarded to students with a GPA of 3.75-3.89 and honors are awarded to students with a GPA of 3.65-3.74.
McGraw is the daughter of Kevin and Heidi McGraw of Hamlet and is pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education.
