If your child or grandchild is planning to attend SCORE (Science Camps Offer Rewarding Experiences), mark your calendar for the final registration date. Any child enrolled in SCORE should attend registration June 6 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Chase County Schools (CCS) in Imperial.

At that time campers will pick up a schedule, t-shirt, water bottle and lunch cooler. Those items should be marked with the child’s name and brought to all sessions.

Students will each receive a pair of safety glasses at their first camp session, which begins the following week.

Director Marla Smith said other items that might prove useful, to be brought in backpacks, include sunscreen, bug spray, hat, jacket, sunglasses and camera.

Prior SCORE camp t-shirts will be on sale at final registration.

Smith said campers should arrive at CCS by 7:45 a.m. each day. Buses will leave for the camp sites at 8 a.m. sharp. All times are Mountain time.

“When you arrive, check in with Kids Captain Arlys Cupp,” Smith said. “She will direct you to your team leader and you will receive your team color wrist band. If possible, try to wear the same wrist band each day of camp.”

Smith also noted that volunteers are still needed throughout the week. “You can volunteer one day or all five,” she said.

Registration is still open for grades 1-2 and 3-4. The 5-6 grade camp is full, but a waiting list is being kept. Questions about registration may be directed to Linda Lakey at (308) 882-8869.

Family Night, June 15, is open to the public at CCS from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
