Imperial Valley Holiness Camp, located on Highway 6 between Imperial and Enders, is celebrating 100 years of worship this summer. The interdenominational camp will be open July 21-31, as it has been every summer since 1911. The camp has changed locations five times. It has been at its present location after members purchased land in 1950. The camp has become a tradition for families, with many generations attending part or all of the 10-day period. The camp consists of services, speakers, youth and child activities and more. The campers pull in travel trailers or reserve cabins or dormitory space. Anyone is welcome to attend, according to secretary Miriam Hegwood, a former Imperial resident. Three meals a day are served, for a free will donation. To reserve cabin space, contact Ruth Speicher of Wauneta at (308) 394-5825. |
