This week the First United Methodist Church in Palisade and Pastor Bonnie McCord have announced the addition of a new contemporary worship service to be held the third Saturday of each month.

According to church leaders the Saturday evening worship service will be more informal in worship style and attire.

Contemporary music and PowerPoint technology will be incorporated into the worship service.

The Palisade UMC’s Saturday night contemporary service begins this week on May 21. Saturday night services will be held in Palisade the third Saturday of each month beginning at 6 p.m. MT/7 p.m. CT.

Pastor McCord said she hopes the additional worship service will be relevant to area residents and fit into their busy lifestyles.

The topic of the first service will be “Our Relationship with God.” The message will be a blend of sermon and Bible study, with questions encouraged during the worship service.

The relationship series of lessons is entitled “Everyday relationships, why they should matter and how they relate to the Bible” and will be the focus of the first eight worship services, noted Pastor McCord.

“You may ask ‘how does this pertain to me?’ As a matter of fact, we are in many relationships, whether we realize it or not,” observed Pastor McCord. “We are in a relationship with a significant other, if we have one, with our friends, with our family, with our employer and co-workers, with the earth and with God. These relationships may be close and comfortable or distant and strained but they are relationships, nonetheless.”

So if you are looking for an alternative worship service, if you want to reconnect with God, or if you would like to improve the relationships in your life, explains Pastor McCord, “come to the Palisade United Methodist Church on May 21 at 7 p.m. CT. We will be there. We hope you will be too.”
