A state medal-winning effort by five Wau-Pal students put the icing on the cake of what was a fun and entertaining year for the WP speech team.
The OID team of Wes Anderjaska, Jenae Bischoff, Jenna Jutten, Landon Jutten and Breann Maris took home eighth place among D-1 schools at this year’s Nebraska State Speech Tournament for their performance of Jane Steiner’s comical piece “Prom Perfection”. The tournament was held in Kearney at the UNK campus on Friday, March 25.

The five WP students were the only medal winners out of a total of 14 kids representing the school.
“Congratulations to the Prom Perfection team on their state medal,” said WP Speech Team Coach Liz Noler. “I’d also like to congratulate the other nine students who made state this year. These kids have been a pleasure to coach.”
This year’s sweepstakes winner among Class D-1 speech teams was Humphrey St. Francis. Bertrand and Brady, who join Wau-Pal in the RPAC Conference, placed fifth and sixth respectively.
