Eden Sunshine Club members Virginia Gauger, Lucille McBride, Joyce Schwenk and Verna Sandman met on Valentine’s Day for lunch at the Senior Center and then spent the afternoon in the home of Virginia Gauger.
Karl and Judy Polly went to Denver on Monday, the 12th, to meet Jon Polly who flew in from California to visit until Feb. 25. Eunice Bodeman and the Kip Polly family were supper guests of Karl, Judy and Jon on Valentine’s Day.
Kelsie Skelton and Sabrina Miller were Saturday guests of their grandparents, Dennis and Barb Miller. The group attended the play, “Cinderella,” in North Platte and then were overnight guests of Kenneth and Bonnie Erickson.
Jan and Gary DeWester met friends, Sharon and Merwin Jones of Goodland, Kan., and Cletus and Royetta Lockhorn of Wyoming in Broomfield, Colo., Saturday and Sunday to observe Sharon and Merwin’s 40th anniversary. Sunday they had brunch at “Karen’s in the Country.”
Joel and Julie Gockley, Kale and Lauren, Taya Northrup, Shay and Paige, Bill and Deb Sandman of Kearney and Dennis and Donna Gockley spent the weekend at Silverthorne, Colo., joined by Stacy Gockley of Fort Collins, Colo., and Lance, Stacy, and Alex Bauer of Kearney for part of the weekend. A sleigh-ride, skiing and a gondola ride highlighted the weekend.

Todd Cox and Kris Polly, Wauneta High School seniors, were selected by the National American Legion Auxiliary to attend the March 20-23 seminars and activities at the Freedoms Foundation site at Valley Forge, Pa. Selection was made from essays written by high school youth on “Freedom - What it means to me.”
Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Kitt recently spent two weeks in Florida visiting Fern and Howard Stinnette at Marathon, touring the Keys and at Orlando visited Epcot Center, Disney World, Cypress Gardens and the Kennedy Space Center.
Guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Buffington to honor Janice Hewitt on her birthday, the 13th, were Alta Keating, Evelyn McGregor, Marilyn McCrumb, Berneta Steinert, Sharon and Sylvia Buffington.
Mr. and Mrs. Lavon Haarberg and Chelsea and Clairene Weimer were among those attending a carry-in dinner at Zion Lutheran Church Sunday in honor of Emma Haarberg’s 90th birthday.
Mindy Doetker was honored as queen of the sweetheart dance at Mid Plains Community College in North Platte Feb. 13, being selected by a vote of the student body.
Mr. and Mrs. Marlin Wine spent the weekend in Beatrice where they helped Lois’ mother celebrate her 95th birthday. Marlene Wine, George Chase and Elvin and Rachel Frantz, all of Topeka, Kan., also attended.

Three Wauneta Boy Scouts, Jack Fanning, Donnie Polly and Michael Ough, were honored last Sunday at the Methodist Church by receiving the God and Country Award.
Miss Gloria Brunt was elected president of the all-board at the University Hospital in Omaha, being one of 160 nurse students who can sit with the mid-students and doctors.
Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Jussel who recently purchased the Florence Johnston home, held open house for members of the Johnston family Thursday of last week.
Rev. and Mrs. M. L. Hegwood and girls were Tuesday guests in the Milton Hegwood home at Culbertson. The occasion was Rev. and Mrs. Hegwood’s wedding anniversary.
Mr. and Mrs. Al Peterson and children were in McCook Valentine’s night to celebrate her grandmother, Mrs. Grace Neville’s, birthday.
Mrs. Kenneth Ungles had a birthday coffee honoring Mrs. Darrell Barnes. The neighborhood ladies were guests.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert McBride entertained Sunday for Mr. and Mrs. Harold Anderson’s anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Andy Anderson and Diana were also guests.

Vernon Hungate was reelected superintendent of the Wauneta schools for the coming year. Next school year he will start his seventh year as instructor and his second year as superintendent.
Ennis Decker was reelected as grade principal. This is his seventh year here.
J. B. Engell and Delman, Mrs. Albrecht, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Moss and daughter were dinner guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Herbert.
Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Hal Fanning were Glen Christensen and Edna Metcalf.
It’s Monopoly now, at least that’s the news of the social set. The new game Monopoly which has taken the east by storm is rapidly gaining favor in Wauneta.

Snow commenced falling early this morning still falling at press time with about 3 inches so far. The beauty of it is—that it’s not cold or windy.
Will Dudeck made a business trip to Lincoln this week.
Elex Hanna and wife visited Friday with Lawrence Dyes.
Miss Winnie Gibson arrived home Friday from a visit to St. Joe and Hastings.
