Veterans Day held special meaning for the men living or recuperating at Heritage of Wauneta this year, as all eight male residents there served their country in the Armed Forces, spanning the generations from World War II to Vietnam. Last week they shared memories of their time spent in the service with each other as well as with guests during Thursday morning’s weekly Farmers Cafe coffee hour. Those veterans include, from left, Bud Einspahr, Korean Conflict veteran; Loyd Campbell, World War II veteran; Joe Schultz, at back, World War II veteran; Leroy Jussel, World War II veteran; Leland DeHart, World War II veteran; Ken Stuckwisch, served in Panama during Korean Conflict; and Lavern Denker, World War II veteran. Not pictured: Kent Doetker, who served in Vietnam, is at Heritage recovering from injuries sustained in an off-road vehicle accident this past summer. (Tina Kitt | The Wauneta Breeze)
