Breeze deadlines pushed forward for Thanksgiving week

The deadline for news, advertisements and classified ads for the Nov. 25 issue of The Wauneta Breeze will be set at 5 p.m. MT on Friday, Nov. 19.

With the Thanksgiving holiday falling on Thursday, Nov. 25, The Breeze goes to print one day early to ensure that local residents receive their issue in the mail before Thanksgiving.

Thank you for submitting your materials early.

The Breeze office will be closed Wednesday, Nov. 24 through Friday, Nov. 26.


Pancake supper tonight at Wauneta Senior Center

The Wauneta Senior Center will be holding a pancake supper tonight (Thursday) from 5 to 7 p.m. MT.

Come enjoy pancakes, sausages and eggs among your friends at the senior center. The public is welcome to attend, and a free-will offering wiill be accepted.


Parking cooperation requested during snow routes

The Village of Wauneta is asking all residents to please move vehicles and trailers from the following streets during times of snow removal: Tecumseh, Arapahoe, Wichita, Vinita, Kiowa, Legion and a section of Quachita east to South Arikaree from Quachita to Highway 6.

The Village asks that citizens maintain ample off-street parking.


Christmas Kickoff coming to Wauneta

Save the date for this year’s Wauneta Christmas Kickoff, set for Monday, Nov. 29, at the American Legion Hall in Wauneta. A chili cook-off contest will take place while songs of the season are performed, highlighting this year’s festive affair.

Enter your name to win in Santa’s Saturday Drawings, set for Saturday, Dec. 18. Also, don’t forget to pick up your game card for a chance to win this year’s Shop Wauneta Holiday Drawing.

Thanksgiving Day buffet to be held in Champion

Make your reservations now for a turkey and ham dinner with all the trimmings to be held on Thursday, Nov. 25 in Champion. Dinner includes dessert, too.

The Country House Restaurant in Champion will allow those patrons who made reservations to dine in or carry out from noon to 5 p.m. MT.

Reservations need to be made by Monday, Nov. 22. Call Ron or Dena Taylor at 308-882-2915 to make your holiday plans.


Christmas celebration today in Grant

Head to Grant today (Thursday) to take part in the town-wide holiday open house.

Food, special kids events, entertainment, vendors, drawings and an appearance by Santa Clause will highlight this year’s holiday fling.

The Christmas celebration runs from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. MT.

The medical community is challenging smokers from around the country to go 24 hours without lighting up a cigarette today as part of the annual Great American Smokeout.
