With four of their team members out of commission on Saturday, a championship repeat at the Dundy County-Stratton Invite just wasn’t in the cards for the Hitchcock County/Wauneta-Palisade wrestlers.

Only six of the 10 wrestlers on the team were in action on Saturday, with all six placing in the top four of their weight classes.

Adam Simpson ran his perfect record to 22-0 at the meet, taking a forfeit in the first round and pinning Jacob Larue of Oberlin, Kan., in his only match of the 215-pound class.

Alex Pollmann also took first and and Keagan Haarberg took second at the meet, Pollmann in the 285-pound division and Haarberg in the 189-pound division.

HC/WP will soon be heading into a very busy stretch of their season, with the Chase County Invite on tap for this weekend in Imperial. Next Friday is RPAC at Southwest and the following week contains back-to-back meets at Medicine Valley on Friday and Arapahoe on Saturday. The Southwest meet follows the next week, then it’s on to districts.
