Hamlet Union Church will be hosting a women’s conference, Born To Win, as well as concerts by award-winning Christian artists at the beginning of August. Concerts by Pam Thum, Dove award winning singer, and Stephen Marshall are in the works at Hamlet Union on Sunday, Aug. 2. The singers will also be performing at the Hayes County Fair on Wednesday, July 29, and the Crossroads Wesleyan Church in Imperial again on Aug. 2. The Born To Win conference, founded by both Thum and Marshall, and described as “the one day super-spa for your mind, soul and body” will kick off at 8 a.m. MT/9 a.m. CT on Saturday, Aug. 1 at the Hamlet church with free registration, a free lunch and refreshments and prizes. The conference is touted as an outreach to the lost and a vital encouragement to the church, an effective instrument in helping free lives from what is unprofitable and to embrace what is eternal. A calculated sequence of music, lights, interview and presentations all fuse together as a backdrop to God’s word. The conference itself will wrap up at approximately 1:30 p.m. MT/2:30 p.m. CT that day and the concerts will follow on Sunday.Sunday’s concert will kick off in Hamlet at 10 a.m. MT/11 a.m. CT, and the Imperial concert is planned for 7 p.m. MT/8 p.m. CT later that evening.
Thum, Marshall award winners Thum is a Dove award nominee for album of the year, song of the year, new artist of the year, and has also received nominations for an American Christian Music award and a Grammy award. With four number one radio hits and nine top ten radio hits, Thum is no stranger to the charts either. Her life story, complete with the tough decision she made to back out of her own wedding while standing at the altar in front of a roomful of family and friends, as well as the aftermath of that very difficult decision, can be read at www.pamthum.com. According to Marshall’s web site, his “guitar driven, energy filled, praise and evangelism are wrapped in words of dream-giving encouragement.” His lyrics are described as words that make you “get it” the first time around. His style has been compared to Bryan Adams, Keith Urban and John Mayer. His songs run from high energy to pensive, from praise and worship, and from encouragement to intimate stories. Marshall’s website, where his music can be sampled, is www.stephenmarshall.net. |
