Trees the Grimms planted seven or eight years ago are now large enough to cast shade and offer a perch for feathered friends. Now other community members are following Ted and Joyce's lead in helping beautify the town.

    Fair ticket sales
    progressing well thus far
Ticket sales for this year's Chase County Fair are progressing well, according to Larry Munger, ticket manager.
Munger said the pace of sales thus far has him optimistic that sales will continue strong until the fair in mid-August.
Normally, the country show sells faster than the rock show. However, this year the Friday, Aug. 15 rock show, featuring Alice Cooper, is keeping pace with the Saturday, Aug. 16 country show featuring Miranda Lambert and Mark Chesnutt.
Munger said sales have totalled around the 20-percent mark for both shows.
