Three youngsters, James Strand, Laura Barger and Zach O'Neil, received their first communion at St. John's Catholic Church Sunday, administered by Father Greg Pawloski.
Five young people were confirmed by Pastor Tim Newmann Sunday at Redeemer Lutheran Church. They were Cody Noble, Cory Stepler, Dustin Harris, Jessica Long and Julie Long.
Thirty-eight were present for dinner Saturday at the Bob Hanna farm where they branded 200 calves. Friends and family and their friends from Omaha, the Denver area, Colby, Kan., and the local area were weekend guests.
Floyd and Lela Fortkamp of Santa Rosa, Calif., were Tuesday and Wednesday overnight guests of Violet Long and visited family here and with her mother, Mrs. Oakley, at the Hester Home in Benkelman.
Weekend guests of Charles and Mae Curtis and Jim Curtis to help Charlie celebrate his 80th birthday were Frank and Judy Williams of Paoli, Kan.
Jaunetta Strohmyer of Cypress, Calif., returned home Monday after spending a week with her mother, Letha Sailors. They spent the weekend in the John and Karla Herrmann home in McCook.
Drs. Kenneth and Sherry Gage and John of Fort Collins, Colo., spent a week ago Saturday to Monday with his grandmother and parents, Mrs. Erma Wallace and Mr. and Mrs. Leigh Gage of Yukon, Okla.

Marcia Keiser and Randy Haarberg were named prom royalty. First attendants were Sam Widger and Kendi Buffington with Sylvia Ham and Myles Mize, second attendants.
Ellen Prior and Della Merrill attended Ladies Day, an all-day meeting at the McCook Church of Christ last week. A salad luncheon was served at noon.
Mr. and Mrs. Reinhold Gloy, Todd and Monte Skelton accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Uehling, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Pankonin, Doris Pankonin and Gertrude Mosel to Scottsbluff where they were guests at the Big John Cafe in honor of Doris and Edith's birthdays. The cafe is owned by a niece, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Johnston who furnished the dinner for the occasion.
At Monday's athletic banquet Marcia Keiser was named the Outstanding Senior Girl Athlete and Randy Haarberg was named the Outstanding Senior Boy Athlete.
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Hegwood and girls, Mr. and Mrs. Terry Wilson and children and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Bley had a cookout at Enders Lake Monday night.
Mr. and Mrs. Ron Wach and Jared, Anna Mae Wach and Helena Hubbard attended the Country Concert Association program at the city auditorium Saturday night at McCook.

Mr. and Mrs. Sam Gauger attended a potluck supper at Benkelman Tuesday evening. All in attendance had the common interest of antique machinery, particularly steam engines. Colored pictures were shown.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Shelley and girls of Wasco, Calif., were Thursday evening dinner guests of Mrs. Velma Wade and children.
Twenty-five selected members of the Northwestern Junior College traveling choir and music instructor left for Grand Junction, Colo., to participate in the Empire Junior College Festival, composed of all Rocky Mountain Junior Colleges. Richard Fox, a freshman at Northwestern Junior College, is a member of the choir and was selected to attend.
Following Class Night, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Denker, Mrs. Ben Gauger, and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Stock and family were coffee guests of Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Egle.
Mrs. Hap Stinnette, Mrs. Stanley Pribbeno and Mrs. George Bernard took their children to the Shrine Circus in McCook Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Donze and Billy, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Maris and son and Donald Donze attended the Machinery Equipment Show at Colby, Kan., Thursday and enjoyed a picnic with other Kansas relatives in the city park.
Miss Karen Fanning took a car load of boys to the Shrine Circus Saturday. They included Jack and Jay Fanning, Stevie and Kurt Applegarth and Donnie Polly.

A movement is underway to promote the use of daylight saving plan during the months of June July and August. It is hoped the plan can be carried out in the entire Frenchman Valley and with the cooperation of everyone, it looks as if the plan would benefit everyone.
Dr. and Mrs. C. Robert Carlson accompanied by Mrs. R. E. Olmsted and Mrs. Eleanor Frasier were in McCook Thursday evening where Dr. Carlson attended a staff meeting of the St. Catherine's Hospital and the ladies attended the recital at the Temple theater put on by Miss Lucille Conrad and her pupils.
Frank Ochs is the new marshall hired by the town board.
Mrs. Claude Francis helped Mrs. Guy Petsch paper her kitchen on Tuesday and Mrs. Petsch helped Mr. and Mrs. Claude Francis paper their kitchen Wednesday.
Olive Williams spent Sunday night with Maxine Grosbach.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Helm and Loide Decker were McCook visitors Sunday.

Last Friday night about 50 of W. J. Ruby's friends surprised him, it being his 53rd birthday. The evening was spent socially and Peter Durkin enlivened the time with his fine graphophone.
Grandpa Hanna got rather severely shaken up when his horse gave him a throw. It bruised his knees and elbows quite badly but could have been worse.
Ralph Metcalf fell from E. Hanna's hay mow and it was thought his leg was broken, but it proved to be a very bad bruise.
Rev. Terry had his house shingled; it adds much to its appearance.
Rueben Finch was the recipient of many a May basket.
