Wauneta's Masonic - Eastern Star recently dissolved and chose to share the remaining funds with the community. Sharing $8,184 were Wauneta's Public Library, Senior Center, Chateau Theatre, Emergency Medical Services, Legion Hall, and the Masonic Home for Children at Fremont, the Masonic Home for the elderly at Plattsmouth with a contribution to Heritage of Wauneta.
On June 17th, 50 friends and relatives of Gus Bartels gathered at St. Paul Lutheran Church to help him celebrate his 80th birthday.
Mr. and Mrs. Lavon Haarberg, Sid and Benjie and Leigh Majors attended the baptismal services Sunday at Zion Lutheran Church for Ethan Lee, infant son of Tracy and Janice Haarberg.
Kenny Smith's tenure on the board of the Nebraska High School Rodeo Association ends in July after serving six years, the last four as president. Missing only one rodeo in his six years on the board. and with 21 high school rodeos throughout the state per year, in addition to state and national finals, he's traveled more than 200,000 miles.
Cindy Schneider is the new director of nursing at Heritage.
Audra Romine flew to Tacoma, Wash., on the 17th, spending time with daughter, Pat.
Ryan Jones and Courtney Barger were among 180 students attending the Nebraska Agricultural Youth Institute (NAYI).
Delores Klima of Bellevue, Lucille Klima, Betty McCallum and Mary Harvey of Burlington, Colo., flew to Las Vegas, Nev., and spent several days with sister, Lola, and husband, Chuck Maina.

Robert Egle, a former National Director on the Racing Committee, was elected as an Honorary Vice President of the American Quarter Horse Association.
Pastor LaVern L. Brack was installed as pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church Sunday, June 8.
Eleanor Wolcott and Laurie Leonard were selected to attend the Nebraska Agricultural Youth Institute.
Mabel Scriven was honored at a retirement tea with more than 150 former students, fellow teachers and friends attending.
Five youth from the Southwest Public Power district service area were selected to attend a week-long energy conservation seminar July 27-Aug.1 at Halsey State Park. The youth are Kip Polly, Patty Potthoff, Lisa Brown, Cindi Lovitt and Scott Loomis.
Mr. and Mrs. Darold Eberhardt, David and Myles and Mr. and Mrs. Ron Gloy, Gretchen and Rachel were Thursday supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Conn O'Neil, Kasie and John to celebrate Kasie's third birthday.
Mr. and Mrs. Wiley Green and Mr. and Mrs. Delman Engell spent the weekend in Kansas City and attended two baseball games between the Brewers and Kansas City, spent some time at Worlds of Fun and toured the city.
Mr. and Mrs. Duane Schneider hosted a birthday dinner for Dick Nordhausen. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Dick Nordhausen, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Nordhausen, Fred Krausnick and Glen Schneider.

Robert Larson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Larson, has been appointed to the United States Naval Academy and reported to classes Monday, June 27.
Miss Wanda Walbridge left Sunday from Denver for New York with a group from Colorado Women's College and will spend two months abroad.
Six Wauneta boys attended a baseball school at Colby, Kan., conducted by the Milwaukee Braves for boys ages 17-22. Attending were Floyd Fortkamp, Ronnie Moody, Dale Bischoff, Dick Bartels and John and Jim Oliver. Five Wauneta boys out of the approximately 100 boys there were chosen for the two teams.
Tom Crapson is spending two weeks leave with his mother, Mrs. Billie Crapson and will return to Great Lakes Training Station where he is taking a course in electronics.
Long time members of 25 years and longer were honored at the Rebekah Lodge meeting. Honored were Merle Green, Ethel Wade, Nellie DeHart, Mae Gosney, Agnes Burham, Edith Krausnick, Mrs. Leo Crowell and Bernice Hohl.
Dale Richards, son of Mr. and Mrs. Prior Richards and stationed at White Sands Proving Grounds, N.M., received his discharge from the Army.
Jim Carlson will take part in the folk opera, "Down in the Valley," presented by the University of Nebraska's All-State High School Fine Arts students. He will be one of the square dancers.

The Crystal Theatre is fast nearing completion and will soon be ready to open to the public with talkies of the best type obtainable.
Arlo Schutte was fined $5.00 and costs for firing fireworks before the 4th.
The lot east of the People's Bank is being cleared and a miniature golf course is in the making. Proprietors J. E. Relph and Guy M. Simons of Cedar Bluffs, Kan., indicate all will be ready to go July 4.
Miss Ena Frasier is spending the week in Wauneta with Mrs. Frasier and sons.
Miss Eunice Athey of Lymon, Colo., is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Athey.

Mr. Winkelman was around the Calvert neighborhood Tuesday with the hail adjustor. They stayed at Art Nesmith's Monday night.
The ladies and girls are complaining about the language that is used on the ball ground. Cut it out, boys, providing you want the ladies to attend.

Pastor Jim and Denise Lucas and family went to Fort Morgan, Colo., Sunday where Pastor Lucas participated in the ordination ceremony for Trent Christensen.
Karen Christner, Elvera Mul-lanix, Phyllis Nordhausen and Charlene Pursley attended the 26th biennial convention of the International Lutheran Women's Missionary League in Kansas City, Mo. Francis and Anita Fekkers also attended.
Dian and Gary Doetker hosted a cookout Saturday evening in honor of the 59th anniversary of Andy and Verna Anderson which was on July 3.
Travis Rathje was among 22 area runners who carried the torch for the Cornhusker Games. Rathje ran a two-mile leg in the state-wide run.
Loran and Nancy Wach and James and Lana Skelton hosted a "Welcome to the Neighborhood" open house Sunday at the Wach home for Walter and Nancy Carroll and family. The Carrolls have moved to the Charlie Teply farm.
Gladys Schneider entertained her bowling group Friday. Attending were Edie Sandman, Norma Denker, Verna Sandman and Jackie Kennedy.

Kathy Petsch was the first place winner in the speech category at the TeenWorld Pageant held at the Holiday Inn in Kearney.
Mr. and Mrs. Dale Maris went to Georgetown, Colo., Friday to bring their son Devon home. Devon had attended a camp for the handicapped for the past two weeks.
Mrs. Sophie Nordhausen was hostess at dinner Sunday at the Steakout for Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Pfeiffer and children on the occasion of their anniversary.
Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Ruettimann and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Arenz and girls held a surprise 86th birthday observance for Mrs. Eunice Ruettimann with family and friends in attendance.
Johnnie Gage of Mexico, Mo., and Verdon Merrill of Coos Bay, Ore., were houseguests of Elsie and Harry Petsch during the Palisade High School reunion festivities. The Petsches entertained their classmates of 1942 and several from the '43 and '44 classes at a coffee hour.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry D. Haarberg attended the 40th wedding anniversary observance of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Nitsch at Hayes Center Sunday.
Temperatures reached the century mark with a high of 106 recorded on Thursday. No precip.

The Masonic Temple is nearly completed after eight years of work and planning. Five men, Roy Olmsted, John Green, Fred Grimm, Al Carrigan and Robert Carlson, all members of the Wauneta Masonic Chapter began laying plans in 1947 with ground purchased in April, 1954 and the cornerstone laid in April, 1955.
Mrs. Luther Barnes realized a dream as the Barneses build home/nursing home. The home, all on one level, will accommodate 13 patients and has been approved by the State of Nebraska Department of Health.
Pvt. Ralph E. Knepper was recently graduated from the Army's 5th Infantry Division Patrol School in Germany. Knepper is a radio operator in Headquarters Company of the division's 10th Regiment.
Mrs. Jim Taylor, Mrs. Bill Neverve and Mrs. Roland Reed hosted a get-together for former classmates and friends at the Taylor home with 11 ladies and 14 children present.
Mr. and Mrs. J. I. Kerchal held open house Sunday, July 3, at their home in honor of their 40th wedding anniversary. All six of their children and families spent the day with them.
Lucille Muths spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andy Muths, returning to Omaha Monday where she is attending the Radio and Television Electronic School.
Henry Dettmer of Kensington, Kan., spent the weekend with his sister, Mrs. Emma Steinbeck.

Miss Ruth Farr of Eweing, Neb., is visiting her grandmother, Mrs. Maddux.
C. C. Volz spent the weekend with his sister in Chicago.
Mr. and Mrs. Drake and small son of Chappell spent the 4th in Wauneta with Mrs. Drake's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Newt Ditton.
Mrs. Fred Dettman, Bobbie and Phylis of Imperial are visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. E. McCallum.
The airplane seemed to have been quite busy July 4th on the South Divide, landing in the Truman Kitt pasture and taking up passengers from there.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Keller and little daughter Dorothy Irene were dinner guests of H. H. Keller near Madrid Sunday.
